La Josefine

Architecture

La Josephine is a penthouse apartment located in Barcelona’s Eixample. Originally configured as a labyrinth of small, disconnected rooms, the apartment lacked both coherence and natural light. The renovation removes all partitions to create a central space from which every room is accessed. Circulation flows freely in a continuous loop, allowing diagonal views throughout the apartment and enhancing the sense of openness. One of the key challenges was integrating a workspace within the home. The client’s office faces the interior patio, where morning light gently fills the space, making work a quiet and luminous part of everyday life. Through a simple gesture, opening up spaces, creating connections, and allowing light to flow, the apartment is transformed into a bright, fluid home where movement, light, and daily life are closely intertwined.
