Passive Design · Living Heritage · Narrative research
Patricia Tamayo Studio is an architecture and urbanism practice that transforms existing places into meaningful, sustainable environments. Working across scales from interiors to cultural and public buildings to urban interventions, the studio pairs contemporary design with a keen sensitivity to context, history, materiality, and light. Each project begins as an opportunity to rethink space in light of existing conditions, identifying what can be preserved and how architecture can enable new ways of inhabiting it. Whether reusing old structures or designing anew, the work is guided by environmental awareness, passive strategies, and thoughtful design to create spaces that are both precise and atmospheric. The practice also engages in research, exhibitions, and teaching, viewing architecture as a means of shaping how people experience and connect with spaces.
“To invent a future that doesn’t exist, you really have to understand what people are doing today and completely reimagine it.” Bill Burnett
